Women's Physical Therapy
Spencer Hospital’s Rehab Services team includes physical therapists who have specialized training in providing therapy to address women’s health issues, including incontinence, pelvic plan and lower back pain. Women may encounter these issues during pregnancy, post-pregnancy or at other times in their lives.
Physical Therapy benefits include:
- Increase pelvic floor muscle strength
- Decrease pelvic pain
- Improve pelvic and leg mobility
- Decrease low back/SI pain
When to consider Physical Therapy:
- Increase leaking with coughing, sneezing or laughing
- Unable to make it to the bathroom in time
- Increased leaking with going up and down stairs, running, walking, from sitting to standing
- Pelvic pain
Physical therapy treatment may include:
- Massage for painful muscles and to decrease muscle tightness
- Stretching for tight muscles
- Relaxation techniques to decrease muscle tension and pelvic pain
- Strengthening exercises to specific muscles to decrease incontinence issues
