Spencer Hospital is celebrating another prestigious national honor. After recently being named a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital, the recognition has been elevated even further earning a coveted spot among the Top 20 Rural & Community Hospitals in the nation. This distinction, awarded by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), places Spencer Hospital among the highest-performing mid-sized rural hospitals in the country.
“I am incredibly proud of our healthcare community,” said Brenda Tiefenthaler, Spencer Hospital President. “Each day, our dedicated team strives to provide the highest quality care and achieve the best outcomes for our patients and region. While this recognition is an honor, the true achievement lies in the unwavering commitment of our healthcare team, medical staff, volunteers, and all who contribute to our mission of excellence.”
The National Rural Health Association selects the Top 20 Rural & Community Hospitals (RCH) from the Top 100 RCHs, as identified by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. For the past ten years, Spencer Hospital has consistently been recognized as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital—standing as the only hospital in Iowa to achieve this honor every year. This year marks Spencer Hospital’s third time earning a place among the Top 20 (previously in 2022 and 2024), a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence.
“This honor not only reflects the exceptional dedication of our healthcare professionals but also underscores Spencer Hospital’s vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our region,” said Amanda Bare, Chair of the Spencer Hospital Board.
By consistently achieving national recognition, Spencer Hospital continues to set the standard for excellence in rural healthcare—demonstrating a steadfast commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care.
