The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends people ages 13 years to 64 years be tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. An estimated 1.1 million persons are living with HIV infection in the United States. Of those, about 1 in 7 are unaware of their infection and may be unknowingly spreading the virus. The first step is to know one’s status.
The CDC recommends Hepatitis C testing for everyone born between 1945-1965, in addition to anyone who has used injection drugs.
