The holidays can be a difficult time for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one; yet it’s also an important time to remember those loved ones. The annual Service of Remembrance provides a special opportunity to celebrate memories and honor the lives of those who have passed away.
The Candlelight Service of Remembrance will be Thursday, Nov. 29 6:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 1212 First Avenue East, Spencer. This memorial event is coordinated by area clergy with the support of Hospice of Spencer Hospital, Abben Cancer Center, and Warner Funeral Home.
“The Christmas season can be a difficult time for grieving people,” commented Pastor Tom Van Tassell, Spiritual Director for Hospice of Spencer Hospital. “This service is a time to help us move toward Christmas acknowledging loss and pain, yet seeking to be embraced by God’s redeeming love.”
All people who wish to honor a deceased loved one are invited to attend this special candlelight service.
“We welcome everyone to join us in our Service of Remembrance,” encouraged Colleen Paulsen, Director for Hospice of Spencer Hospital. “This is not a service just for families and friends of hospice patients, all people are invited.”
Anyone with questions regarding the special candlelight service is encouraged to call Hospice of Spencer Hospital at 264-6380.
